Brutus is a Great Dane who was owned by the Bird Brothers as a guard dog at Marlinspike Hall in The Secret of the Unicorn.

At one point when the Bird Brothers gained ownership of Marklinspike Hall, they likely purchased Brutus as a guard dog for the estate's safety.
During the climax in The Secret of the Unicorn, the Birds Brothers use Brutus to chase after Tintin upon his attempt to escape from Marklinspike Hall after being kidnapped. However, Brutus' attempts were foiled when Tintin outwitted the Birds Brothers by making Max trip on a tree branch and acquiring his pistol, then later dodging Brutus when the vicious great dane tried to pounce him.
Trivia[]
- Although Brutus did not appear in The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn, his role from the original story the film takes most of its plot from was recycled for another dog character, Hector.
