Eric Björgenskjöld is a Swedish scientific scholar in the field of Astronomy.

History[]

He is the author of many papers on solar prominences. He was a member of Decimus Phostle's Arctic expedition team to recover samples from a fallen meteorite, the Aurora Expedition. He features only in The Shooting Star. Björgenskjöld bears physical resemblance to a real person: the Swiss Auguste Piccard, who was also Hergé's inspiration for Professor Calculus.[1]

Trivia[]

  • In the Japanese edition, his name is changed to Malte Nammosen (マルテ・ナンモセン), a pun for 「まるで何もせん」(Marude nanimosen/often nammosen, informally), which roughly means "do nothing at all." His nationality is changed to Danish too.
    • The first Japanese edition kept his original name intact and retained his Swedish nationality.
