Haddock's Car

A yellow civilian automobile owned Captain Haddock registered as 3972 was used by him, Tintin and Professor Calculus during certain events in The Seven Crystal Balls.

Role in Book[]

At some point before the events of The Seven Crystal Balls, Haddock acquired a yellow car for himself when he was adjusting to a more sophisicated civilian lifestyle after gaining ownership of Marlinspike Hall. The car is used on multiple occasions of the story, first when Tintin and Haddock use it to arrive at the Hippodrome at the beginning, then later when they alongside Calculus visit Professor Hercules Tarragon's residence, and second to lastly used when they drive it to travel to the harbour in conjunction with finding and saving Professor Calculus from being kidnapped by Rupac Inca Huaco. Comedically at one point before they arrive at the harbour, rain starts pouring down when the car does not have its roof tarp mantled on, resulting in Tintin and Haddock attempting to get the car's interior covered, but as soon as the roof is clamped onto the windshield it has already stopped raining and the two alongside Snowy are soaking wet.

It is unknown what happened to the car afterwards, as it does not appear in any further adventures and nor is it mentioned again.

Trivia[]

  • The car is based on a 1939 Lincoln Zephyr Cabriolet.
