Mohammed Ben Kalish Ezab is the Emir of the fictional Arab state of Khemed. His only son and heir is Abdullah, the mischievous Crown Prince.
History[]
He first appears in The Land of Black Gold where he pardons Thompson and Thomson for crashing their jeep and fighting to maintain his rule from the insurgent leader Bab El Ehr.
He and his son re-appear in The Red Sea Sharks, when Mohammed Ben Kalish Ezab is temporarily overthrown by his rival Sheikh Bab El Ehr after a coup. But he didn't give up, so he sent a distress message to his friends by Haseem He entrusts his son to Tintin's care where he stays at Marlinspike Hall despite Captain Haddock's objections. At the end of The Red Sea Sharks, father and son are reunited, the former having reclaimed his throne and country.
