Professor R.W. Euclide is an absent-minded professor who appears in The Broken Ear.

History

He is shown as being very absent-minded by forgetting his glasses, wearing his cleaning-lady Ernestine's overcoat, holding his walking stick upside-down as if it were an umbrella, mistaking a parrot for a man and leaving his briefcase next to a lamp post.

Name

In the more modern versions of The Broken Ear the Professor's name is not wholly revealed. However, in the original black and white edition published in 1935 his name is given as Professor Euclide, after the ancient Greek mathematician Euclid of Alexandria, who is known as the "Father of Geometry."
