A poster advertising the appearance of Rino Tossi in a production of Boris Godunov was shown on the Morris column which Captain Haddock walked into at the start of Red Rackham's Treasure. In the original black-and-white strip, the venue for the performance was the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels, but this was omitted from the coloured version.
His name is an obvious reference to French singer and actor Tino Rossi.
