The Sondonesians are Asian mercenaries hired by Roberto Rastapopoulos to collaborate in his scheme to steal the fortune of Laszlo Carreidas, falsely claiming that he will help them in their war for independence. They assist Hans Boehm and Paolo Colombani in capturing Carreidas' plane and diverting it to the Sondonesian island of Pulau-pulau Bompa, keeping the passengers and pilot imprisoned in old Japanese WWII bunkers.

Role in the franchise[]

Four of them are captured by Tintin and Captain Haddock, on separate occasions. The first two captured were guarding Tintin, Captain Haddock, Skut, Gino and Professor Calculus. They are captured following a distraction by Snowy, and are quickly tied up and gagged by Tintin and Captain Haddock. The last two were delegated to guard Rastapopoulos Bunker. Following a brief fight, the two are also captured by Haddock and Tintin.

Appearances[]

The Sondonesians appear only in Flight 714, and its television adaptation, and are not found again for the remainder of the franchise.

Trivia[]

• Their name is a pun on the word 'Indonesian', which is reflected in their appearance, language, and the name of the island.
