W. R. Gibbons is an American businessman and minor villain involved in various plots against Tintin. He is the Director of American and Chinese Steel Inc.

Gibbons - the blue lotus (tintin)

Gibbons as seen in the book series talking to J.M. Dawson to arrest Tintin.

His first appearance is in Tintin in the Congo when he was aiding Al Capone in illegally mining diamonds. He gets arrested afterwards. The Great American industrialist made his second appearance in The Blue Lotus. With typical characteristics of a cruel industrialist, Gibbons was insensitive and racist, which is evident when he attacks and insults a young Chinese man. Tintin tries to stop him, and winning the fight, fails to conquer the hatred of the wealthy businessman who promises revenge. Along with his friend J.M. Dawson, head of the Police Grant International, Gibbons informs the Japanese authorities about Tintin, but ends up being arrested for passing false information. Gibbons also appeared in Tintin and Alph-Arthe appears in Akass' house in Italy along with characters R.W. Trickler and the Emir.
