Wadesdah is the capital and largest inland city of the fictional nation of Khemed. It is first described in Land of Black Gold. In the 1950 version of the aforementioned work, Wadesdah was described as just a small rural town. However, in the 1972 version, it was rewritten it was changed to become Khemed's capital.

The city is apparently located halfway between the real-life cities of Aqaba and Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. This was revealed on a map drawn by Hergé in the concept stages for The Red Sea Sharks.1
